President Edgar Lungu has warned United Party for National Development UPND Presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema that he will be dealt with sternly if he does not accept the outcome of the August 11 polls.
Addressing a campaign rally in Lusaka’s Zingalume area today, President Lungu says Mr. Hichilema should instead resign from active politics instead of making claims that he will not accept the results and that he is not scared of the UPND leadership.
President Lungu says he will ensure that Mr. Hichilema is given a free and fair chance to campaign in during the campaign period and that he sees no reason for him to make pronouncements that he will not accept the election results.
And President Lungu says those who have been questioning his whereabouts when campaigns are ongoing should now realize that he is back in the campaign field.
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front PF Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri has called on all party members to desist from any misconduct or violent activity following a warning from the ECZ that it will suspend any political party involved in violence.
